Academic Career

Dr. Courtney Watson is a tenured Professor of English with extensive experience guiding graduate students in academic writing, research, and scholarly communication. She has served on numerous thesis and dissertation committees, helping students refine their ideas, strengthen their writing, and develop their scholarly voices.

Publications and Research

Her work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and literary outlets, including Studies in American Culture, Dialogue, and The Virginia Quarterly Review. She also serves as a peer reviewer for academic journals. Her forthcoming research on integrating the humanities into STEM education will be published by Routledge, further contributing to critical conversations in higher education.

Recognition and Awards

Dr. Watson has been nominated by the State Council for Higher Education of Virginia’s Outstanding Faculty Rising Star Award. She is also the recipient of the National Society of Arts & Letters Regional Short Story Prize as well as multiple institutional awards for excellence in research and teaching.

Leadership and Consulting

In addition to her teaching, Dr. Watson has served as a program chair and frequent committee chair in higher education governance. As a consultant, she has acted as a subject matter expert, evaluator, and contributor to white papers on program development, enrollment research, and higher education mergers and acquisitions.
